IBM THINKPAD
One of my first assignments as a professional copywriter was for IBM Thinkpad. The brief said it was stylish and portable. The resulting idea—a thinkpad folded over a hanger like a pair of trousers—is a great example of how writing doesn't have to mean using words.
The ad ran all over the world with a few different headlines—the original being prêt-à-porter, (which means "ready to wear.”) It was inducted into the permanent collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, England where it was featured in a major exhibition and book called Brand.New that look at great brands of the 20th and 21st centuries and their impacts on society and culture.
